Turning the Dirty-30

On Sunday, I turned 30 years old.  There!  I said it!  I am, however, still having some trouble getting used to it.  On the treadmill yesterday, I accidentally entered 29 - and it wasn't because I'm still in denial.  I just can't wrap my brain around the fact that I have existed for 30 years!  I don't feel old...age is just a number.  But 30 is one of those numbers that makes you think...I'm not a kid anymore.  This probably should have been a fact that I grasped when I: A. bought a house (and then the second one)  B. got married  C.  had a child  D. became a teacher of teenagers (they remind you how old and uncool you are on an hourly basis)   But, somehow, it hasn't really clicked in that I'm not getting any younger until Sunday.

It was a GREAT weekend!  On Friday, Neama and I went out for pizza and frozen yogurt at PurpleBerri with Cameron.  He ate like a little piglet!  Saturday,  Neama took care of the yardwork and we finally got the other garage door opener installed then we took off for dinner in the West Village (Dallas) with one of my favorite people, Nicole, for a sushi dinner.  Nicole is no longer a sushi-virgin and she actually liked it!  I really enjoyed spending my birthday dinner with such a wonderful group!  I missed seeing my family though...hopefully their schedules will open up soon so we can all get together.

Sunday, I got to sleep in!  You must know this never happens anymore...no matter what time is bedtime, Cameron is ALWAYS up by 7 at the latest!  He was still up, but Neama was fabulous and put cartoons on in the living room for him and left me to my slumber until a whopping 8:30 when I was greeted with banana pancakes and scrambled eggs with fresh coffee!  YUM!  We went to Alley Cats and played some games with Cameron...I wasn't initially excited about this, but it turned out to be a blast - btw - I kicked Neama's butt shootin' hoops!  He even played again to try to beat my score - unsuccessfully! Next, was our trip to Costco - we picked up three barstools for our kitchen.  I have been wanting to get barstools for a while - so I asked for them for my birthday.  Apparently, Costco is THE place to spend your 30th birthday...my, oh my, how times have changed!

Our neighrbors came over, bearing beautiful flowers and fresh, homemade spring rolls to enjoy dinner with us!  Neama made one of my favorites - bar-b-que ribs, garlic mashed potatoes, corn on the cob followed by my absolute favorite dessert, tiramisu, from Central Market (thanks, Nicole!)

All in all, A WONDERFUL CELEBRATION!  And I have to say it - I MAKE 30 LOOK GOOD!  :)
